Images and comments from phase 2a - add further comments at the bottom.

These are a little out of date now, I shall add some more current images after my next site visit.

Centre windows about the ridge? More glazing bars? Render or tile hanging in gable?

Full glazing bar solution overkill? Single glazing bar solution underkill? Disagreement about half glazing bar solution on opposite side. Lead work detail to be kept in check.

be23 with gable

Timber gable over girst floor window retro-fitted since first visit. This house type is being used in phase 2b with mock sash windows - it’ll be a more interesting elevation but we have also proposed a flat roof porch, it may not have enough interest to carry it off. The bathroom layout (largely defined by the hoist requirements) creates some imbalance with the position of the window on the first floor. This house type works much better as a pair.

bungalow

Post detail could be more robust? Larger timber section size. Overall proportion seems to work well.

dormer

Better proportion of fascia on this phase. Lead was previously a proscribed material on WHA spec - had approval for this phase and received thumbs up from Chris J.

Would be good to have plot numbers of the pictures.

    Plots 71-72

Windows need interest. This unit loses its Bournville feel without. Works much better with 3 pane window at first floor as in 1A. Could also try this with double height bay to make it feel grander as one of our more imposing housetypes?

    Plots 83-85

Breaks our rule of having more imposing elevations on corners for impact. Having 2 bed as central unit is wrong. Split between 84-85 looks strange and would have had more rhythm if joined with tunnel back. I think we need to re-design this unit to get kitchen off the front so we can have a larger window. First floor window wrong proportion and should be wider rather than taller (needs to be considered re prev comment) Again, without any glazing bars this unit is hard to appreciate as part of the Bournville image aspiration.

    Bungalow (Plot???)

Agreed re robustness of porch posts. We should look at slight modification on porch to return dwarf wall to main wall of bungalow and add trellis screen to sides to increase cottagy effect. Are the roof trusses exposed? (Cant see from this pic but they certainly should be evident to give Bournville feel)

    Colonial window/facia/lead

I love this window! Its a great find Rob. Facia is much better but lead is OTT. We need to see a sample before they apply it on any other unit. Dormer in this position is a bit cluttered with other roof geometry. Works better on 1A where 2 units are stand alone or next to simpler roof arrangement. Can we try this as a 3 pane window to get the wider look on future housetypes?
